Through the generous support of Speed the Light, a Convoy of Hope partner, two new trucks have been added to our fleet. These trucks will help transport food and supplies in support of our work helping those in need in the United States and around the world.
The trucks include a new tractor-trailer and box truck. That brings the fleet to 11 tractor-trailers and four box trucks.
“Speed the Light has been a tremendous partner to us as we help people in times of need,” says Hal Donaldson, president and co-founder. “Because of their generosity, we’re able to transport much needed supplies to support our Children’s Feeding Initiative, Disaster Services and Signature Community Events.”
It’s estimated that Convoy of Hope trucks have traveled more than 1.5 million cumulative miles during the last 20 years.
Convoy of Hope Europe (COHEU) is celebrating its 10-year anniversary as it branches out into its 37th country to help the impoverished in Europe and beyond.
COHEU — Convoy of Hope’s sister organization — was founded in 2003 and in the past 11 years has been involved with countries around Europe through community events, relief aid, fundraising and its Adopt-a-Community program.
The organization recently held its first Adopt-a-Community event in Kendice, Slovakia. Teams that included a group from Lincoln, Neb., spent a week in the community, where they provided basic medical services, replaced windows on homes and mentored local children. The week culminated in a free festival, where more than 1,000 guests received free food, medical examinations, haircuts, manicures and bags of groceries.
