H.O.P.E. Begins Here
For years Convoy of Hope has responded to disasters around the world, assisting in relief efforts and witnessing the destruction the unexpected can cause. Far too many times our workers have heard people say with regret as they survey the damage, “If only I had…”
A recent survey by the American Red Cross found that seven out of 10 families are not prepared for the first 72 hours immediately following a disaster.
Responding to disasters is not enough.
Because of Convoy of Hope’s commitment to helping communities help themselves the organization is launching a new proactive, nationwide initiative: H.O.P.E. Begins Here (Helping Others Prepare for Emergencies).
H.O.P.E. Begins Here campaigns bring together faith-based leaders, businesses and families in individual communities in an effort to build resiliency and promote emergency and disaster preparedness.
H.O.P.E. Begins Here is not meant to be a one-time event; rather, it is designed to stimulate ongoing community discussion and collaboration. With follow-on actions such as CERT training and classes from the American Red Cross, Convoy of Hope wants to initiate long-term disaster preparedness and response planning in communities across the U.S.
