As health officials in Haiti work to control the outbreak of cholera, Convoy of Hope and its in-country partner, Mission of Hope, are monitoring the situation and making preparations to respond.

“At this time we stand ready to send in additional sawyer water filters to affected areas where we have a presence through our feeding programs,” says Kevin Rose, field operations director for Convoy of Hope. “Mission of Hope is also prepared to go into communities to set up rehydration centers in churches and schools in affected areas.”
More than 200 people have died since the outbreak. Officials and aid organizations fear the cholera could spread rapidly in the tent camps in and around Port-au-Prince where 1 million people fled after the earthquake in January.
“Convoy of Hope and Mission of Hope are preparing for the worst, but expecting the best,” adds Rose. “We’ll continue to monitor the situation and respond accordingly.”
