Dallas Outreach

Like tens of thousands of other people, Convoy of Hope’s interns recently traveled to Dallas, Texas during the first week in February. Instead of attending the Super Bowl though, the interns were there to participate in the S.O.A.P. (Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution) Project, which is designed to educate hotel management and staff on how to identify potential victims of human trafficking.

“This issue is not the main focus of Convoy of Hope’s mission, but trafficking is tied in with poverty and injustice,” says Matt Wilkie, internship director for Convoy of Hope. “I loved seeing our team serve as advocates.”

Despite the snow and freezing conditions the interns joined dozens of other volunteers in visiting more than 100 hotels during the week of the Super Bowl. Along with informational brochures, the teams distributed 10,000 bars of soap labeled with the national human trafficking hotline.
