Hundreds of North Dakota families have been displaced with more than 300 homes damaged by last week’s severe flooding there. Responding to the need, Convoy of Hope Disaster Response personnel were on the ground connecting with local churches and government organizations to determine the most effective means help serve the city.
40,000 pounds of disaster supplies including water, food, cleaning supplies, flood buckets and more were immediately dispatched for Fargo, North Dakota. Distribution began as soon as the weather permitted, but the weather did not cooperate dumping 4 - 6 inches of snow along with high winds making distribution difficult.

The Convoy of Hope team on the ground worked through the weekend to meet with area pastors in Fargo to coordinate efforts. The churches there have a very tight relationship and work together on a regular basis. At the meeting our disaster team members worked with these pastors on the details regarding the method of distribution and manpower. They identified the hardest hit areas and mapped out the locations of the churches to capitalize on ministry opportunities in those specific neighborhoods. The product provided by Convoy of Hope will be warehoused in the church’s bus garage at First Assembly of God. This will be the staging area for all the local churches to pick up supplies to be distributed to the neighborhoods via each church’s own people.
Additionally, we have been in contact with churches from surrounding states who are willing to come and help with recovery efforts. The clean up efforts are expected to take weeks.
