Floods and tornadoes hit Midwest

Convoy of Hope is actively working with faith-based partners, non-governmental relief organizations and government agencies to plan a coordinated response to widespread flooding and tornadoes in the Midwest.

“Even though we are still responding to the multiple disasters in Japan, this is happening at home. These are our friends and our neighbors,” says Jeff Nene, senior director of public relations. “The people of the Ozarks have been very supportive of Convoy of Hope. We want to provide help to them in their time of need.”

The organization’s disaster response team has connected with the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency to coordinate distribution of water, ready-to-eat meals, snacks, trash bags, work gloves and other relief supplies.

A Convoy of Hope disaster response team will head to Poplar Bluff, Mo., to provide food and water to sandbagging crews working to contain floodwaters. Convoy of Hope will also provide ready-to-eat meals and water to the Hot Springs, Ark., area hit by a tornado.
