Helping the homeless

Recently, Convoy of Hope joined several local organizations and volunteers in Springfield, Mo., to help the homeless population. Convoy of Hope took part in the event by distributing hygiene kits, socks, peanut butter, cereal, sausages, bread, soup, canned goods and water.

The outreach dubbed “Hope Connection” was held downtown at the Springfield Expo Center.  The goal of the event was to provide a one stop service site where guests could receive haircuts, groceries, housing help and even job placement opportunities.

A single mother with two children ages 9 and 18, said,  “The groceries will really help me, my son. We just recently became homeless and it’s rough — especially in the cold weather.”

According to Dianna Spurgeon, outreach administrative assistant for Convoy of Hope, the event was one more way Convoy of Hope could help those in need.  “It’s important to not only help people overseas, but also help people locally and support those in our own backyard.”

Be a significant part of what we do.
