While hundreds of residents cleaned up after heavy rains that caused flooding in central and eastern Iowa last week, a Convoy of Hope disaster response team was dispatched to the area to set up a point of distribution in Ames where 40,000 pounds of water was distributed.

“We received requests for help and responded by sending a team and much-needed water,” says Kary Kingsland, senior vice president of disaster response. “It was estimated that 56,000 people were without drinking water after the flooding.”
Each year Convoy of Hope responds quickly to disasters in the United States and around the world. In doing so, the organization has become a much-depended on first-responder.
