HopeWalk El Salvador - 2008
April 14-18, 2008
Until you've walked there you'll never know the impression you can make.
El Salvador. This small land in Central America has endured more than its share of war, poverty and natural disaster and you will see the scars of these. But look a little closer and you'll also see the resilience and optimism such tragedy can inspire.
The natural beauty of this country is staggering. In an area of 8,123 square miles (about the size of the state of New Jersey), this small country sits on the Pacific ring of fire. It has been subject to significant tectonic activity--earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and landslides. These activities have impacted the economy and you will witness communities that have been displaced by these natural disasters.
Convoy of Hope has been making an impact in this country for years. With relief efforts following natural disasters and the rebuilding of communities, they have helped bring food and clean water. In the rural areas you will witness the development projects that Convoy of Hope has offered--Seeds of Hope and Water Filtration systems. You will also see the daily feeding programs that take place in the schools and educational tools that individuals like you have made possible.
