Intern Life
Convoy of Hope Interns live in a variety of community settings, with growth opportunities through connecting with practitioners, reading, international experiences, and hard work. Some details:
The Convoy of Hope Internship has two main segments; the Springfield, Mo, based training, and then field work.
In-House Training
During training time, the team:
Lives as a community in the intern house (separation for guys/girls), or in various homes. Learns various aspects of relief and development work. Is challenged spiritually, with emphasis on spiritual disciplines and spiritual gifts. Works hard, learning through hands on work at our Convoy of Hope headquarters. Spends time with those who have worked around the globe doing compassion missions work.
On Field Service
The On-Field portion of the program will be on location (primarily foreign with some short domestic opportunities), helping to meet spiritual and physical needs through various Convoy of Hope projects. Each session will have a pre-assigned area of focus. The locations are referenced on the Opportunities page.
Flexibility
Convoy of Hope Internship leadership reserves the right to alter that model or locations in the event of a disaster/ pressing need in order to give the team the best opportunity to service and exposure to the true function of Convoy of Hope.
Housing
The term cost covers all intern living expenses during the Convoy of Hope Internship, but living conditions may not be as commonly assumed in western culture. The following should be considered as a probability at some point and possibly throughout the entirety of the program:
Community living: Living with roommates – with guy/ girl separation. Eating in community setting. Rough living conditions; students may be exposed to very basic/ primitive living conditions and are expected to be prepared to live in such conditions.
