“A Shelter from the Storm” Benefit Concert to Aid Southwest Missouri’s Ice Storm Response
Springfield, Mo. -National and local Christian music artists will come together for “A Shelter from the Storm” Benefit Concert and Live Auction on Friday, Feb. 16, 2007 at Remington’s in Springfield, Missouri. Organizers hope to raise aid for the people affected by the recent severe winter storms. The primary beneficiary will be Convoy of Hope (convoyofhope.org). Concert goers are asked to bring canned food items, where Convoy of Hope will have a semi-trailer truck in place the night of the benefit for collecting the goods. Following the ice storm on January 12, the organization has donated over 300,000 pounds of product to churches, local shelters and emergency operation centers in southwest Missouri. Not since Hurricane Katrina have they provided a relief effort of this magnitude.
Amy Grant, Vince Gill, Candy Coburn, American Artist RME, and others have donated items that will be auctioned off in between performances. For a list of specific items visit http://www.myspace.com/ashelterfromthestorm.
