Bass Pro Shops donates $400,000 in goods to Convoy of Hope disaster response efforts
Springfield, Mo. — The four major needs following a disaster are food, water, shelter and medical attention. Through its ongoing partnership with international compassion organization Convoy of Hope, Bass Pro Shops will be helping thousands of future disaster victims, by making a generous donation of family-sized, expandable RedHead tents valued at $400,000.
“Shelter is one of the most urgent needs following a disaster,” said International Director Kenton Moody. “These tents are a God-send; though they are a temporary fix, they will help protect thousands of children and elderly from sickness and the elements following a disaster.”
“Bass Pro has partnered with us through several recent disasters, most recently last month’s earthquake in Indonesia. It is a great company that lives out its commitment to helping people in desperate situations through an ongoing partnership with Convoy of Hope,” Moody said.
“We believe in Convoy of Hope and what they do for people in need here at home in Springfield and around the world; we’ve had a great working relationship and want to continue to grow that,” said Larry Whiteley, Bass Pro Shops Corporate Public Relations. “Convoy of Hope has one of the best nonprofit reputations for efficiency and effectiveness and we encourage other corporations to help support their mission of compassion to those in need.”
Convoy of Hope recently received excellent ratings from two nationally recognized charity watchdog groups. Charity Navigator gave it their “coveted 4-star rating for sound fiscal management” and the Independent Charities of America and Local Independent Charities of America awarded it the Independent Charities Seal of Excellence, for meeting the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness. Fewer than 5% of charities in America meet or exceed these standards. Corporate and private partnerships allow Convoy of Hope to turn every donated dollar to between $5-8 of actual relief product.
Note to media: A Convoy of Hope truck will receive the donated tents at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 12, at Bass Pro Shops corporate headquarters, Door 31, 2500 E. Kearney, Springfield.
Media may check-in at the truck entrance Guard Station immediately behind Sportsman’s Warehouse.
