Commerce Bank and William T. Kemper Foundation Donate $5,000 to Convoy of Hope’s Ice Storm Relief
Springfield, Mo. - Commerce Bank and the William T. Kemper Foundation announced $5,000 in contributions to Convoy of Hope to help assist in the organization’s response to recent ice storms in Southwest Missouri. Convoy of Hope’s Disaster Response team distributed 300,000 pounds of food, water and personal hygiene kits throughout the Ozarks, with a project cost of more than $200,000, in response to this area’s largest natural disaster ever. Convoy of Hope also served as Springfield/Greene County Emergency Operations Center’s donation management site.
Bob Hammerschmidt, president of Commerce Bank’s Springfield Region commented, “We are pleased to be able to support the good work of Convoy of Hope in assisting those in their need to cope with the aftermath of the ice storm and the many challenges they face.”
The William T. Kemper Foundation - Commerce Bank, Trustee was established in 1989, following Mr. Kemper’s death. The Foundation is dedicated to continuing Mr. Kemper’s lifelong interest in improving the human condition and quality of life. Its philanthropic areas of focus include education, health and human services, civic improvements and the arts.
“We’re grateful to Commerce Bank for their ongoing support,” says Kary Kingsland, U.S. Disaster Response Director. “It was a privilege to be able to respond to people here in our own backyard.”
In addition to supporting the Springfield/Greene County response effort, the organization also assisted communities in outlying areas, such as Barry, Christian, Dallas, Lawrence, Polk, and Webster counties.
