Convoy of Hope Announces Dr. Barry H. Corey as Chair of its Board of Directors

Springfield, Mo. - Dr. Barry H. Corey, vice president of Education/Chief Academic Officer and Academic Dean at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, has been appointed Chair of the Board of Directors for Convoy of Hope. As Chair of Convoy of Hope’s governing body, Corey will oversee decision making concerning policies, budgets, operations and the assessment of organizational accomplishments.

In addition to his many accomplishments in the field of education, Corey has worked as a consultant to relief and development organizations in the United States and Canada. In 1995, he developed a pilot model for a joint humanitarian project between the United States and Bangladesh, where he also served as a Rotary International Good Will Delegate in 1998. Prior to his role as Vice President for Education, Corey served as Vice President for Development at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary where he has served for fifteen years. In his role as VP Development, Corey directed a successful $54 million campaign for the seminary.
Corey received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Evangel College, Springfield, Missouri, and a Master of Arts in American Studies and Ph.D. in Higher Education Curriculum, Instruction and Administration from Boston College Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Prior to joining Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 1991, Corey served at Boston College Graduate School of Arts and Sciences; as a Fulbright Scholar in Bangladesh with the Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee; and in several roles at Valley Forge Christian College in Phoenixville, Pa. He is also an ordained minister with the General Council of the Assemblies of God.
Currently, Corey and his wife, Paula, reside in Hamilton, Massachusetts, with their three children, Anders, Ella Grace and Samuel.
