Convoy of Hope Plays Santa to Thousands of El Salvadoran Children
Springfield, Mo. - Though Convoy of Hope shares hope and spreads joy around the world and throughout the year, the compassion organization is playing Santa to thousands of underprivileged children again this Christmas.
For the second year in a row, Convoy of Hope is responding to a request from Mrs. Ana Ligia de Saca, the First Lady of El Salvador, to provide nearly 24,000 toys for thousands of poor children who otherwise would not receive a Christmas gift.
These children, whose families live on less than one to two dollars a day and in extreme circumstances, are all smiles when presented with the one and only gift they’ll receive this year. Priority is given to orphanages, single parent homes, and those not being touched by other efforts.
Through long-term partnerships, FedEx is donating shipment of the 17 pallets of toys, which were donated by Children’s Hunger Fund and Feed the Children and are valued at more than $100,000.
In addition to millions of pounds of supplies being sent to other countries around the world, Convoy of Hope’s focus in Latin America through compassion and development projects, has touched more than 150,000 people in 2006 alone.
