Convoy of Hope provides supplies to areas hard-hit by storms
Springfield, Mo. — Convoy of Hope has worked around the globe coordinating large-scale disaster response efforts for major catastrophes. With its international headquarters in Springfield, the faith-based organization is now helping its friends and neighbors.
Convoy of Hope has provided items like water, milk, soup, meal replacement bars, and personal hygiene kits to local churches and community organizations like the Red Cross and local Emergency Management offices serving families in hard-hit, Aurora, Clever, Marionville, Marshfield, and Nixa.
About 30 volunteers from different local churches are working together, canvassing neighborhoods hit by last night’s severe storms. Convoy of Hope is staying in regular contact with officials in the affected areas.
U.S. disaster director Kary Kingsland says, “Our assessment teams have been out since first light this morning and we’re all surprised at how this thing hop-scotched across the Ozarks – in light of the devastation’s extent, we’re grateful to see the damage is in isolated areas.”
While it’s impossible for Convoy of Hope officials to estimate the financial impact related to this response effort, cash donations are welcome to help offset the impact. Please visit http://www.convoyofhope.org or call 417/823-8998 to make a donation.
