Missouri Governor Blunt Proclaims September Convoy of Hope Month
Springfield, Mo. - Missouri Governor Matt Blunt has issued a proclamation declaring September 2006 “Convoy of Hope Month.” This honor is in recognition of the organization’s ongoing humanitarian work, both here at home and around the world, and coincides with two upcoming Convoy of Hope community outreach events in Willard and Nixa.
In the proclamation Gov. Blunt commends Convoy of Hope’s partnership “with local organizations and churches across racial and denominational lines to unite communities, provide long-term support, resources and encouragement, and bring hope to thousands of individuals and families.”
The Willard and Nixa outreach events will be held Sept. 9 and 30, respectively. Event organizers anticipate serving thousands of honored guests. Thousands of bags of groceries will be distributed at each location. The events will also include job and health fairs, children’s activities, live music and haircuts, all of which is entirely free to the guests. Previously, Convoy of Hope has served Mo. residents in Cape Girardeau, St. Louis, Kansas City and Springfield.
Since 1994, Springfield, Mo. based Convoy of Hope has served more than 14 million people around the world, providing disaster relief, supply lines and community outreach events in an effort to meet physical and spiritual needs in order to make the community a better place.
