Riad’s restaurant assists Convoy of Hope efforts
Springfield, Mo. - Riad’s Authentic Mediteranean Cuisine is giving back, by giving a portion of its proceeds to Convoy of Hope. Riad’s is hosting Convoy of Hope Day from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., on September 24th, 2006, at its restaurant located at 105 Park Central Square. Riad will donate 20% of all food sales for the day to Convoy of Hope. A lunch buffet featuring an amazing variety of Greek and Mediteranean food prepared by Riad and his chefs will be served from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; adults will be $12 and kids twelve and under will be $6. Those dining after 4 p.m. can still participate in Convoy of Hope Day by ordering off the menu.
“Because I am fortunate enough to be living the American dream, I want to help others who aren’t as fortunate,” Riad says. He encourages other businesses to embrace such philanthropy and says that an organization like Convoy of Hope is a great way to do so. “I believe in Convoy of Hope and what they do for people in need here in Springfield and around the world. Convoy of Hope has one of the best nonprofit reputations for financial accountability and I encourage others to help support their mission of compassion to those in need.”
“Riad has a huge heart,” says Corporate Relations Director Rick Waggoner. “It’s such every day generosity that regularly helps people around the world through extreme poverty and times of disaster.” Through an ongoing program, Riad also invites patrons to write-in a donation to Convoy of Hope on their receipt. “Because of Convoy of Hope’s corporate relationships, a one dollar donation is converted into $5-8 of product that actually reaches those in need,” says Waggoner.
Convoy of Hope recently received excellent ratings from two nationally recognized charity watchdog groups. Charity Navigator gave it their “coveted 4-star rating for sound fiscal management” and the Independent Charities of America and Local Independent Charities of America awarded it the Independent Charities Seal of Excellence, for meeting the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness. Fewer than 5% of charities in America meet or exceed these standards. Corporate and private partnerships allow Convoy of Hope to turn every donated dollar to between $5-8 of actual relief product.
