Community Wide Outreach Events
The U.S. Outreach department at Convoy of Hope plans over 50 outreaches each year in communities across the country. An outreach is a one-day special community event designed to meet both human and spiritual needs of impoverished families.
On average the event partners Convoy of Hope with 1,000 local volunteers to serve anywhere from 3,000 – 5,000 guests. Outreaches give hope by providing free groceries, health and dental screenings, free haircuts, games and activities for children of all ages. Connections are established through job fairs, churches, government agencies, and community service organizations.
Opportunities for ongoing service are made possible by giving volunteers a chance to connect with local residents, making a lasting impression on all who participate.
What is the Guest of Honor Principle?
Convoy of Hope takes pride in its guest of honor principle. Our goal at a Convoy of Hope outreach is that every recipient be valued, respected, and treated as a guest of honor. Every aspect of an outreach is based on this principle; and, on the day of an outreach, all areas of service demonstrate this principle. We unconditionally love and accept each guest without regard to age, race, physical appearance, or spiritual condition.
