Volunteer Opportunities
How can Convoy of Hope continue to touch millions each year? Only through the combined efforts of our faithful volunteers! If you are currently one of our volunteers, thank you for helping to deliver our promise of “Giving hope to the poor.” If you are a potential volunteer, there are many ways to get involved with Convoy of Hope!
Community Outreaches
Volunteers are the driving force behind each community outreach, from working a children’s game to sorting groceries. Participating in an outreach is often a life-changing experience for volunteers as they personally make a difference in the lives of our Honored Guests.
To get involved in an outreach in your area, check out our Upcoming Events Calendar and click on an outreach in your area. Contact the local coordinator to find out how you can help.
Springfield Area
If you are in the Springfield, Mo. area, there are volunteer opportunities at Convoy of Hope’s headquarters. Join us each Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for Hands of Hope. This regular volunteer project gives local volunteers the opportunity to see and work with many of Convoy of Hope’s relief loads before they go out.
Volunteers of all ages and skill levels can help with sorting, packing, counting, labeling and inventory. This is a great opportunity for civic and church groups, and a fun way for students to fulfill their community service hours for school. Children under 12 should be accompanied by a guardian or responsible group leader.
No pre-registration is required, but we appreciate being able to plan for large groups in advance. You can let us know you are coming, or ask any questions by calling us at 417 823-8998 or e-mailing
Disaster Response
When Convoy of Hope rolls into a disaster area, volunteers who can help in the initial days are vital. We call these volunteers “GO Teams.” These teams deploy and rendezvous with the Convoy of Hope U.S. Disaster Response team into a disaster area, giving three to five days or more of their time to aid in first response. “GO Teams” would help in the distribution of life sustaining supplies, and bringing the message of hope to the hurting.
GO Teams need the ability to deploy with a week to two weeks notice. Upon submitting an application, you will be provided with training materials and tools you will need to be prepared for disaster response. For more information on how you can be involved, contact the USDR Volunteer Team at .
During disasters, we also need extra volunteers to help in our office and warehouse headquarters.
There is still a tremendous need for skilled labor to help rebuilding and restoring homes for Katrina victims in the Gulf.
For more information on how to assist in Springfield during a disaster or to find out more information about skilled labor teams for the Gulf, please email .
International
Our international teams share compassion with people around the world. These teams of volunteers from churches or other groups, work for 8-10 days helping those in need. To learn more about these group opportunities and for the approximate costs involved, please visit Convoy of Hope Teams or email .
Testimony From A Pastor
“An unexpected benefit has developed as a result of our church giving regularly to Convoy of Hope. People are becoming personally involved in missions. The church sent a team of individuals to Louisiana to assist with the hurricane relief and came back with first-hand stories of the great job Convoy was doing. Without exaggeration, it transformed their lives. Since then, three more teams from the church have gone to assist in the devastated areas of the South.
So, I guess what I’m saying is the benefit to Riverside is simply that it has proven to us that it truly is more blessed to give than receive.”
Bill Ellis – Lead Pastor – Oakmont, PA
