Throughout the Gospels, Christ set the example for what effective ministry should be. The pattern He set was simple—when Christ saw a need He met it. It was compassion that marked the ministry of Christ, a passionate love for mankind and a willingness to minister to their needs. Likewise, Christ is calling His followers to minister to this world with that same measure of compassion.
We live in a world that is hurting. All around, people are crying for help. It is this reality which moves us to compassion. To give a bag of groceries, provide a free hair cut, or teach the skills to garden are simple acts of compassion we can do everyday.
