Reaching hurting communities is the focal point of Convoy of Hope’s compassion efforts. The “Guest of Honor” principle, the idea every person should be valued and respected, drives Convoy of Hope into communities to provide real help and lasting hope.

During one outreach, in the Mary Poppins neighborhood in New Orleans, three women from the neighborhood asked to thank Convoy of Hope personally. “We never have anything like this in our neighborhood. Nobody ever does anything for us. Our kids don’t have anything to do. They can’t go outside and play and ride bikes in this neighborhood.” Even the local police force asked us, “Why did you pick this neighborhood?”

The compassion of our partners, donors, and volunteers to help those in need drives Convoy of Hope to go where the need is most desperate. Even in the midst of the storm, Convoy of Hope’s Disaster Response Team hit the ground before the winds of Hurricane Katrina stopped blowing. Convoy of Hope is compelled by compassion, and together we can give real help and lasting hope to people in need.
