Community Events Serve Up Hope in Three Cities

USA Reported by Convoy of Hope

Families from all walks of life gathered at Tahoma High School early this morning in this suburb of Seattle, Washington, to experience a day full of celebration and giving at a stop on our Community Events Tour. More than 6,500 Guests of Honor came through the gates, forming the largest line at our Kids Zone, where much-needed school supplies were given to families.

Barb, a grandmother who came to the outreach with her three young granddaughters, couldn’t afford to send the girls to school with school supplies.

“I’m so thankful for this help,” says Barb, as a volunteer trimmed her granddaughter’s bangs. “I was a little cranky this morning but this was the uplift I needed!”

We also greeted upwards of 4,300 guests of honor in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and more than 900 in Springfield, Missouri, today bringing the grand total to 11,751 Guests of Honor in three cities.

In Cheyenne, the first guest in line for the outreach told volunteers she hadn’t eaten in three days. Today, she got a free meal and bags of groceries to take home.

We were once again proud to work with partners in each city, along with our national partners Plum Organics and the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). The NBCF had more than 900 women visit their tent in Tacoma, and Plum Organics gave away their products to guests in Tacoma and Cheyenne.
