SPRINGFIELD, Mo.Convoy of Hope's Disaster Services team has shipped 42,000 lbs. of relief supplies to partners in Hilo, Hawaii in response to the ongoing volcanic eruption. About 2,000 people have been evacuated from the affected areas around Hawaii's Kilauea volcano and are staying in emergency shelters. As the volcanic eruptions continue, emergency teams are moving into more long-term sheltering and will require more supplies. The container sent by Convoy of Hope is resourcing The Food Basket food pantry, which is currently acting as the main distribution center for the affected area. The container is filled with food, water, solar lights, face masks, hygiene kits and tarps, to replenish the stock of emergency supplies. Follow the response here.
