At Convoy of Hope we believe in giving and today on #GivingTuesday we’re celebrating by asking you to believe in it with us. While this day has only been around a couple years, the concept of giving isn’t so new. Some pretty incredible people have made a big deal about giving.
“We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.”
– Sir Winston Churchill
Here on our blog we don’t do a lot of asking people to make donations. We believe that if we tell our story, people will be compelled by their own generosity to join with us by giving.
So, here’s our story. At a young age, brother’s Hal, Dave and Steve Donaldson lost their father in a car accident that also left their mother badly injured. The sustaining generosity of neighbors and local churches that they experienced during that time inspired them to found Convoy of Hope in 1994. Since then, Convoy of Hope has served 62 million people in more than 100 countries through children’s feeding initiatives, community outreaches, disaster response and partner resourcing.
“Give and it will be given to you.”
Our story is all about giving. It’s friendly neighbors giving to a hurting Donaldson family. Then, it’s the Donaldson brothers giving groceries out of the backs of pick-ups in the early nineties. Very quickly our story grew to include volunteers and generous donors giving early on. In 2013 it’s been giving hope and helpful resources to guests of honor at 35 community outreaches across the U.S., giving education and start-up funding to empower women, giving agricultural education to thousands of farmers in Haiti, giving food and nutrition to 126,000 children in our feeding initiative and giving immediate relief and hope to survivors of 15 disasters all around the world.
“It’s not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.”
– Mother Teresa
We’d be honored to have you visit our donation page to take part in nearly 20 years of giving hope this Giving Tuesday.
