We shipped a container of disaster relief supplies and sent funds to Manila, Philippines, in response to Typhoon Utor, which battered the nation for days. As monsoon rains continue, large parts of Manila have flooded, rendering at least 130,000 people homeless.

Thankfully, we already have a network in place in the Philippines where we feed children in poverty-stricken areas. To supplement the supplies already shipped, we are also working with a partner to ship hygiene kits to the area and are continuing to identify ways in which we can be of assistance as the water recedes.

Convoy of Hope’s Disaster Response Team has been coordinating with in-country staff in the Philippines and will continue to monitor the situation and update this blog post as new information becomes available.
