Springfield, Mo. Hurricane Hanna made landfall Saturday, July 25, about 70 miles south of Corpus Christi, Texas. The storm made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane and was the first official hurricane of the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season with sustained winds as high as 90 mph. It weakened into a tropical storm early Sunday and moved into northern Mexico.
Hanna unleashed more than 15 inches of rain in parts of South Texas, leaving thousands without power for several days and forcing communities to grapple with damage caused by flash flooding.
Convoy of Hope has deployed a Disaster Services team to the area. They are currently en route and will set up a drive-thru distribution on Saturday. Team members and volunteers will distribute food, water, hygiene kits, and clean-up supplies to those who attend.
