Today, we celebrate World Water Day — a day where we dream about how the world can achieve availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
At Convoy of Hope, we know that a child cannot be well-nourished without water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) which is why we ensure such practices in our program centers. We understand that “feeding” does not just mean “food.” To us, it means safe food that can be readily absorbed and promote a child’s health.
There are several ways we incorporate WASH into our feeding programs. Step one is always to encourage hand washing. This prevents contamination and reduces the likelihood of illnesses. We also use water filters to ensure clean and safe water is accessible where potable water is difficult to find.
We believe that everyone — regardless of age, ethnicity, hemisphere or life stage — has a right to clean water. WASH has been proven to make a difference and we will continue to work hard to make sure the food we serve is being complemented with proper sanitation throughout the world.
